Turbowheel Lightning Review
Turbowheel Lightning Summary:
With the words “turbo” and “lightning” in its name, the Turbowheel Lighting electric scooter should be fast and powerful.
Turbowheel Lighting lives up to its name by giving a maximum cruise speed of up to 40 mph, thanks to two strong motors and a big 52 V 18.5 Ah Li-ion battery with a battery capacity of 957Wh. With such battery power, you can enjoy spectacular journeys of up to 44 kilometres on a single charge. Lightning, on the other hand, has no fear of steep metropolitan hills; it can climb 45 percent inclines without breaking a sweat.
You’ll also appreciate the safety measures built into this on- and off-road monster. First, owing to the large front and rear hydraulic disc brakes that function in tandem, it has a lot of stopping force.
The 10 × 2.5-inch air-filled tyres glide over stones, bumps, and other road irregularities with ease. The Turbowheel Lightning also has suspension on both wheels, which makes even the most difficult difficulties seem gentle.
Are you concerned about the stability, attractiveness, and comfort of your home? You can relax, because Lightning has you covered. This isn’t like other high-performance e-scooters, which focus on speed and range while neglecting looks. It has an aeronautic-grade aluminium alloy frame that can accommodate riders weighing up to 330 pounds. It also has an extra-wide deck that gives ample footrest while sailing without restricting mobility.
It is not portable, despite the fact that it folds at the base of the stem. It comes with folding handlebars, however they don’t have any clamping points. Even still, at 77 pounds, this e-scooter is cumbersome to transport. Another disadvantage is that it lacks a water-resistance rating.
With many control buttons on both the right and left handlebars, the dashboard is rather simple. The speed, distance, and riding mode are all displayed on the digital display. For easy riding, it links to the throttle, key lock, and mode button.
The Turbowheel Lightning is your best pick if you’re searching for a strong, speedy, and robust e-scooter that can handle all urban terrains like an expert!
When it comes to performance, the Turbowheel Lightning eats all other electric scooters in its price range for breakfast. The dual 1000 motors are powered by a 52V 18.2Ah 957Wh Li-ion battery that produces enough power to reach 40 mph.
On the other hand, when powered up, this scooter can handle any terrain, from grass and dirt hills to asphalt and uneven city streets. Because of its enormous torque, you can climb 45 percent inclines like a wild cat. More significantly, it has three riding modes, allowing you to ride at a pace that is suitable for you.
The Turbowheel can travel up to 44 miles on a single charge with a fully charged battery. But it does more than simply provide a strong range; it also allows you to swiftly recharge the battery, whether using a single fast charger, a normal charger, or two standard chargers.
The scooter’s build quality is above average, with a strong frame that can bear a 330-pound weight without breaking down. Furthermore, the enormous deck is large enough to accommodate players of various foot sizes. The foot pad at the deck’s back end provides more room for safe and pleasant riding.
The electric scooter is steady regardless of the weather thanks to a pair of 10 x 2.5-inch wheels that provide ample traction on any surface. Its pneumatic tyres work in tandem with the suspension system to provide one of the smoothest and most pleasant rides on the market.
To boost your visibility to other cars at night, the deck features lights attached to the front and back. Unfortunately, we’ve seen scooters with better illumination, and if you ride frequently after nightfall, you may want to consider investing in extra light sources.
With the amount of torque and horsepower that the Turbowheel Lightning had, it was only natural that its creators would have to be especially cautious when it came to braking performance. The good news is that its front and rear disc brakes provide superior braking performance. The brakes are really strong, and they performed admirably on gravel and loose dirt.
The Turbowheel Lightning electric scooter is an excellent choice whether you’re looking for a motorised vehicle for short city excursions or recreational off-road adventures.
Speed & Acceleration:
The Lightning’s two motors create enough torque to propel it to a top speed of 40 mph, with an output power of 2000W and a peak power of 3600W. The Turbowheel Lightning has you covered whether you’re climbing grassy slopes or riding on flat land.
With this much engine power comes a lot of acceleration. You might end up in a ditch if you don’t train yourself to smooth out the throttle application or aren’t diligent enough. Fortunately, the power limiting capabilities on this rapid electric scooter allow you to adjust the proper speed and power for any occasion.
For example, the single/dual button may be used to engage one or two motors, while the Eco/Turbo button can be used to ride at high or low power. The three-speed options let you choose the level of power you want. If all conditions are ideal, Mode 1 will get you to 22 mph, Mode 2 to 30 mph, and Mode 3 to 40 mph.
Riders who tried it say they only got 37 mph before self-preservation and self-doubt kicked in, demonstrating how quick this scooter is. Only a handful were able to exceed 40 miles per hour.
Despite the fact that the Turbowheel Lightning lacks a certified hill-climbing rating, its engines and batteries combine to produce scorching performance. According to independent studies, this off-road and city beast can climb slopes with 45 percent inclines.
Surprisingly, it can do so while carrying a 180-pound rider when other conditions are favourable. When ascending city hills, you’ll feel like you have plenty of energy to spare.
Battery & Range:
The Turbowheel Lightning electric scooter joins the ranks of some of the most acclaimed long-distance electric scooters because to its remarkable 52V 18.5 Ah 957Wh Li-ion battery. Despite the fact that it costs roughly half as much as other high-performance electric scooters, this is the case.
Lightning has a maximum range of 44 miles, so you can go for leisure rides or regular commutes without worrying about the battery expiring.
Another advantage of this strong scooter is that it recharges in a reasonably short period of time. It includes two charging connections that may be used in three different ways.
- The fast charger takes 4 hours to complete.
- Two standard charges (4.5 hours each)
- A single normal charger takes 9 hours to charge.
The scooter comes with a regular charger, but you may upgrade to a fast charger or get another standard charger. It’s worth noting that you can’t use two fast chargers at the same time. The battery has a green light when fully charged and a red light when it is low.
Two BLDC hub motors are included with the Turbowheel Lightning. Each motor has an actual power output of 1000W and a peak power output of 1800W. The two engines, when combined, produce 2000W actual power and 3600W through two separate controllers.
It’s no surprise that this machine can reach a peak speed of 40 mph and handle terrains with 45 percent inclines with so much power in the box.
Construction & Quality:
Every component of the Turbowheel Lightning radiates top-notch engineering and great craftsmanship, designed with longevity and ride comfort in mind. The reinforced aluminium alloy frame is strong enough to support a maximum weight of 330 pounds. This makes the scooter excellent for heavier riders who want a feeling of adrenaline.
Other critical components, like as the fenders, are constructed of steel, but what strikes out is how the various sections are welded and assembled to form the final result. From the moment you lay eyes on this beast, you’ll notice EWheels’ meticulous attention to detail and workmanship.
It also has a large rubberized deck with enough of foot room for better stability and ride pleasure. Extra room is provided by the elevated footpad in the back half of the deck, which comes in useful while riding at high speeds.
You’ll also like the fold-in XTasy handlebars, which compress for easy storage. Rubber coating on the ergonomic handlebars reduces friction and provides a pleasant grip. On each side of the handlebars, you’ll also discover well-built brake controls.
Suspension & Comfort:
The suspension systems on the front and rear wheels are one of the electric scooter’s attractions. A torsion bar with a bouncing spring suspender, similar to the one used on Duatron scooters, is mounted at the front wheel. The scooter’s rear wheel is dampened by a mixture of two dampeners, one hydraulic and one spring, with a screw setting that may be adjusted.
The rear and front suspension systems make riding comfortable, and many experienced riders consider it to be one of the greatest suspension setups available. It works in tandem with the extra-wide pneumatic tyres to guarantee that this motorised vehicle can go you places that others can’t.
Riding the Turbowheel Lightning is a pleasurable and secure experience. Riding over cracks or severe bumps feels exceptionally smooth thanks to the ideal suspension and 10-inch tyre combination. Whether you’re riding on grass or pebble roads, you won’t notice any vibrations or wobbles.
Even while hauling a 330-pound rider, the strong and durable aluminium frame, extra-large deck, and suspension keep this motorised unicycle steady. More significantly, the scooter has sufficient braking power to let you get out of any crisis.
Overall, riding on the Turbowheel Lightning is a pleasurable and high-quality experience. If you want to liven up your regular city commutes or make your weekend travels more memorable, this is the way to go.
The lights have been Turbowheel Lightning’s biggest disappointment thus far. Both a headlight and a brake-activated tail light are included on the scooter. The headlight is dim, but its location at the back of the deck is the primary source of worry.
When you press the brakes, the tail light pulsates to notify other cyclists that you’re about to slow down. If you plan on riding after sundown, you’ll need to upgrade to brighter T-bar mounted lights.
There’s no need to be concerned, even if you’re cruising at faster speeds than normal. Thanks to the cable mechanical disc brakes on the back and front wheels, this e-scooter delivers unrivalled levels of road safety.
In dangerous situations, these disc brakes work effectively with regenerative engine braking to bring the scooter to a halt. They also decrease wear and tear by storing the energy generated by braking in the battery.
Riders may currently select an electric scooter with fully hydraulic Nutt brakes, which are the industry standard for hydraulic braking.
While the Turbowheel Lightning’s excellent brakes make it one of the safest e-scooters to ride, you should appreciate its great power by wearing protective gear such a helmet and knee pads.
The Turbowheel Lightning, like other high-performance e-scooters, isn’t very portable. However, this does not preclude it from being folded into a small package. It has a simple folding mechanism that allows the stem to fall onto the deck when not in use. Its handlebars fold for simple storage, but there is no place for them to clamp.
Finally, this electric scooter is rather heavy, weighing in at 77 pounds. So, unless you’re attempting to get it into an elevator or a vehicle trunk, this isn’t the type of scooter you’d transport to and from the bus station by hand.
The Turbowheel Lightning comes standard with 10-inch Tuovt tyres that are suited for city and light off-road use. The 2.5-inch wide tyres give outstanding handling and comfort by providing a strong surface grip.
Inner tubes in pneumatic tyres assist absorb road impact and make it easier to handle bends and hills. Let’s say you choose for aftermarket wheels. In such scenario, Tupda hybrid off-road tyres are highly recommended, as they have the same dimensions as the standard tyre but include bigger deep treads for increased stability when riding in off-road terrains. These tyres work in tandem with the front and rear suspension to deliver outstanding performance on any terrain.
When riding on city streets or off-road terrains, the deck gives the rider the optimal position. The Turbowheel Lightning electric scooter has a shorter but wider deck than comparable scooters with long and compact decks. This allows you to place your feet next to one other or one behind the other.
More importantly, the surface has been rubberized for more traction and to prevent slips. A elevated section of the deck at the back serves as a footpad, providing more standing room, particularly while sailing at high speeds.
Controls & Display:
It’s not every day that you come across a scooter with such a comprehensive but user-friendly interface. On the handlebars, all controls are evenly distributed. The battery level, current speed, journey distance, and speed mode are all shown on the right side’s crystal clear digital multicolor screen.
The screen is linked to a tiny dashboard featuring power and speed mode buttons, a trigger throttle, and an ignition lock, as well as a voltmeter. On this side, you’ll also discover the front brake lever.
Two buttons are located on the left, one for toggling between single and dual motors and the other for activating Turbo or Eco mode. On the left handlebar, there is also a bell and a rear brake lever.
Another disadvantage of the Lightning is that it does not meet the IP water protection requirement. Although the manufacturer states that crucial components such as the battery housing are water resistant, they make no guarantees about how the e-scooter will perform in wet situations. As a result, you should avoid riding this e-scooter in the rain or in puddles for the time being.
The Turbowheel Lightning will provide the most reliable and pleasant riding experience, whether you’re searching for an electric scooter for everyday city commuting or a tough off-road beast for weekend adventures.
When you buy a Turbowheel Lightning electric scooter from a reputable retailer, you get a 12-month guarantee that covers all design defects and other problems that may occur during normal use. Collisions and water damage, on the other hand, are not covered.
Battery problems are also covered for the same time period, which is a perk considering most manufacturers only provide a six-month battery guarantee.
We can certainly declare that EWheels delivers one of the most responsive and trustworthy customer care systems based on our ratings on various internet platforms and our own experience. Their helpful staff will assist you throughout the purchasing process, assembly, and use of your equipment.
The customer service representatives are quick to reply to concerns and inquiries, and some have even gained celebrity status as a result of their dedication.
The Turbowheel Lightning, like any other technological device, has flaws. Fortunately, the majority of potential deal breakers are issues that clients are aware of before to purchasing the scooter. Subpar lighting, a lack of a location to secure the handlebars, and a lack of a water-resistance rating are among them.
However, a few users have noted that there are still concerns. For starters, several customers claim that after trail riding, the locking mechanism loosens, resulting in a squeaky sound. Others have expressed dissatisfaction with the stiffness of the handles and brake pads.
Other minor difficulties include the following:
- Flat tyres on occasion.
- Front brakes are noisy.
- A throttle that is too sensitive.
- Front wheel understeers somewhat.
The best thing is that the company’s attentive support crew took care of the majority of users who reported problems with their scooters.
While the Turbowheel Lightning electric scooter exudes excellence, it must be properly cared for and maintained if it is to remain in peak condition.
You must perform the following simple routine maintenance:
- After each ride, give it a good dusting.
- Checking tyre pressure and, if necessary, inflating them
- Lubricating joints and moving components
Check for any loose nuts or screws and tighten them, as well as adjusting the brakes if necessary. Charge your scooter before storing it, but don’t keep it plugged in overnight.
Finally, because this scooter does not have a water-resistance certification, you should wipe it with a soft, wet towel rather than spraying it with water.
Turbowheel Lightning: Is it worth the money and is it worth buying?
In general, the Turbowheel Lightning electric scooter is the most cost-effective of all the e-scooters in its class. This e-scooter won’t break the bank despite having a wild top speed of 40 mph, a maximum range of up to 44 miles, and a dependable and safe ride quality.
We enjoy how the manufacturer caters to riders of all skill levels by providing three riding modes and the option of using only one motor. Having said that, we don’t think the Turbowheel Lightning is for everyone. It’s great for riders who are responsible and experienced. But the bottom line is that the scooter is well worth the money.

Buy only if the surfaces are level and smooth.
Excellent and high-quality product; my daughter adores it. works fantastically on uneven surfaces.
I love this scooter so much!
I bought a used turbo lightning with nutt hydraulic brakes (NOT – the plus with bigger battery). It is a great performance scooter. I am 50yrs old in SoCal and it easily handles my 230 pound weight.. I usually operate between 15 and 30 mph, not really capable of much over 35 mph.. Battery charge affects top speed and acceleration, I usually only charge at 80% or 90%. I usually need a charge around 10 miles.. I can double if I run on only 1 motor and keep around 20 mph.. I am not sure but the battery seems good. However I am looking at getting a new battery, but I think mine is still good for another year or two..
