Apollo City Summary:

Apollo is a well-known brand of electric scooters and the Apollo City is no exception. You’ll receive a speedy light scooter with all the features you need to get to work in comfort and safety for a very cheap price.

You can travel comfortably on all sorts of urban terrain, handling slopes, potholes and bumps with ease, thanks to strong twin mechanical brakes, dual suspension, and Dynavolt battery power.

The 3-second folding mechanism and collapsible stem come in handy when you need to fold it down for storage or travel. The Apollo City’s ability to fold down completely makes it a breeze to transport or store away at work.

You’ll be able to escape traffic and get to the workplace in no time thanks to a peak speed of roughly 45km/h and the ability to accelerate to 5mph in 4.1 seconds.

If you use the fast charger. 4 hours of charging on the scooter’s long-lasting 48V 13.2aH battery will give you enough juice to go roughly 28 miles in eco mode or 22 miles on regular mode.

Even if you use the conventional charger. the battery will charge in about 8 hours, making it simple to recharge overnight and use the next day.

You won’t feel out of place scooting about in your work clothes because it’s waterproof and simple to operate. LED lights in the rear and front provide safe nighttime travel, and the optional seat allows you to rest your feet after a long day on the road.

At 18kg, Apollo has built one of the best lightweight electric scooters on the market, combining slimline design with high-quality manufacture and great knowledge of their consumers’ demands.

APOLLO CITY REVIEW2

The Apollo City has a sturdy construction that will withstand the wear and strain of your everyday commute while providing outstanding value for money. The Apollo City is a great, top-quality urban electric scooter that you won’t want to put down, with riding metrics, tonnes of configurable options, and a two-year guarantee.

Indeed, at this price, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better electric scooter for commuting or pleasure.

Performance Overview:

The City’s battery performance is also impressive. With enough power to go for 28 miles in environmental mode and 22 miles at full speed, you can make as many stops as you like without worrying about running out of juice.

A lithium-ion Dynavolt battery with a 48V, 634 Wh capacity delivers long-lasting power for 13.2aH. This level of power provides you with the energy to face 15-degree inclines, rough city streets, and the stop-and-go nature of heavy traffic.

The Apollo City is not an off-roader and does not claim to be one. It is built for a cityscape. Front and back pneumatic tyres give the solid traction you’ll need to ride securely on various surfaces in a variety of weathers, while the deck is sensibly constructed with a high enough base to avoid getting caught on curbs, lumps, or bumps.

So the Apollo City electric scooter will be more than adequate for the occasional mild dirt route and several bumps you’ll encounter throughout your everyday journey.
The conventional charger for the Apollo City gives a decent, full charge in 8 hours or a quick charge in 4 hours, making it simple to charge the battery overnight or while working.

Speed & Acceleration:

The Apollo City is a rapid, powerful ride with a peak speed of roughly 45 kilometres per hour, making it ideal for avoiding traffic jams. When you get aboard, swift acceleration brings you to 15mph in 4.1 seconds, which is precisely what you need when you’re in a hurry to go to the station on time.

This electric scooter is a terrific deal with so much throttle you can tackle difficult slopes as well as pavement bumps with ease. It is powered by an energy efficient brushless 600W motor with a peak output of 800W and a top speed of 25mph.

The highest speed of the Apollo City is, of course, dependent on the rider’s weight, terrain, battery state of charge, and other factors. The AVERAGE reported top speed is 45-46 kilometres per hour (28.5 mph). Downhill runs may reach high speeds of 31-32 mph, although they are not suggested for long periods of time.

APOLLO CITY REVIEW5

Hill Climbing:

The Apollo City can climb grades of up to 15%, however this can vary greatly depending on the weight of the rider. Despite the fact that the scooter had slowed significantly, we were able to complete a 330ft 14 percent hill grade with a 64kg rider.

Battery & Range:

The Apollo scooters use Dynavolt batteries, which are branded and of higher quality than standard china / unbranded battery packs. The Apollo City is powered by a 634-watt-hour lithium ION Dynavolt battery rated at 13.2 amp-hours at 48 volts. The cell quality has improved, resulting in increased battery dependability and range.

The range of the Apollo City is largely determined by the rider’s weight, terrain, ambient temperature, and battery condition. The following are the average ranges:

Riding with Intensity (high speed runs)

11 miles (18-20 kilometres)

Average Riding (moderate pace / brief bursts of rapid speed)

16 miles (25 kilometres)

Low-speed (no high-speed runs) eco-riding

18 miles (28 kilometres)

Motor Configuration:

A single 600 watt brushless electric motor with a max output of 800 watts powers the Apollo City. The Apollo includes a high-efficiency brushless motor with an 86 percent energy conversion rate, according to the manufacturer (meaning less energy lost to heat). Because of the scooter’s weight and ease of use, a single motor layout is ideal.

The biggest disadvantage of single motor setups like this is that they have inferior hill climbing capabilities than multi motor scooters.

Construction & Quality:

The Apollo City is built on a high-quality forged aluminium frame. The scooter’s designers insisted on a sturdy construction and high-quality materials. so you won’t have to worry about failing components as you would with other cheaper scooters. Chinese copied scooters, or unbranded versions.

The Apollo City’s structure makes it durable and capable of handling daily travels. There are fewer things that may go wrong because to the reduced number of frame components. the usage of simpler brake systems, and a simple frame folding mechanism. As a commuting scooter, it must be capable of many stops and starts, suspension loading, braking, and folding – therefore the Apollo research team took this into consideration.

The city’s strong yet basic design allows it to carry a maximum load weight of 120kg (265 lbs), which is quite an accomplishment for a single engine scooter.

Apollo certainly believes in their scooters, as seen by the two-year warranty, something we haven’t seen from any other scooter manufacturer.

Because of the superior quality cells, we’re convinced that the Apollo City will endure for years with regular use and many battery cycles.

The Apollo City’s construction quality is excellent. We haven’t seen any recalls or complaints about any problems. The attention to detail and the use of high-quality materials have resulted in the creation of a high-end scooter with no compromises. The two-year warranty backs up the construction quality.

Suspension & Comfort:

The Apollo City’s front suspension is supplemented by dual suspension in the back, guaranteeing that you may ride over bumps and holes without difficulty. The front suspension is a single spring located between the fork and the yolk of the frame, while the rear suspension is a twin spring setup.

You’ll receive a smooth, steady ride through uneven surfaces and roads thanks to the increased cushioning provided by the durable, shock-absorbing 8.5 inch air-filled pneumatic front and rear tyres. You’ll enjoy a high degree of protection from bothersome splashes, dirt, and drips thanks to the IP54 water resistance rating and the addition of rear mudguards.

Ride Quality:

The quality of the Apollo City ride was outstanding. We found the scooter to be really smooth and silent. The throttle is really sensitive, and the car accelerates quickly. Thanks to robust suspension, a large deck, and a solid frame, the overall riding quality is excellent.

The trigger throttle, which may be demanding on the finger after long travels, was the sole flaw.

Lights:

The front twin white LED lights of the Apollo City are positioned just over the mudguard, providing them a low centre of gravity on the scooter. We considered the lights to be adequate at best, with beam visibility being limited due to their closeness to the ground. To make nighttime riding simpler and safer, we propose a larger, brighter, higher placed pair of LED lights.

A dual red LED light with braking alert is used in the back to clearly signal when the brakes have been used.

The stem has a fantastic pair of blue LED lights incorporated into it, giving the scooter a very modern aspect.

The deck also has BLUE LED lighting on the underside, which is a lovely addition – and looks great at night, illuminating the ground and ensuring that people can see the Apollo when it’s on the move.

Braking:

The City’s braking performance is adequate, but not as good as we’ve seen on scooters with hydraulic braking. The city does use a triple braking system with redundancies to ensure that it is fail-safe. Traditional cable-driven callipers with disc brakes are used on the scooter, as well as regenerative braking to assist slow it down.

The rear brake is a drum brake, which is adequate but not as effective as disc brakes. However, the drum brake has a far longer lifespan.

Portability:

When you need to store or carry your scooter, the Apollo City can fold completely flat with the stem facing the deck, which is a great feature for an urban electric scooter.

The City’s stem and handlebars, in addition to the 3-second folding technique, are also foldable, allowing the scooter to be moved or stowed with ease.

The Apollo City is a breeze to get about. Its light 18kg mass nicely complements its small folded dimensions of 109cm by 56cm. So there’s no need to stress about lugging a big, bulky scooter up stairs and into crowded public transportation.

You may escape the awkwardness of toggling with several parts with the 3-second folding system. The stem may be folded by lowering it down and across, substantially reducing its height. The two-way fold tucks the handlebars in and aligns the stem with the deck, giving a sleek folded shape with nothing jutting out to catch on unwary passers-by or make storage difficult.

APOLLO CITY REVIEW3

Tyres:

Two pneumatic air-filled tyres are included with the Apollo City. Both the front and back tyres are 8.2 inches in diameter and are air filled. The scooter’s standard tyres are of decent quality and will endure for several months (even with high use). To assist avoid punctures, we recommend Armadillo or Green Slime.

Commuters will undoubtedly have a puncture from time to time.

On the Apollo removing the wheels to change the tyre is also pretty simple.

APOLLO CITY REVIEW4

Deck:

For this type of scooter (lower-end scooters with inferior performance), the deck is rather spacious. The Apollo has a long and broad deck that measures more than 80cm in length, making it ideal for commuters who need a little extra room to move around or find a comfortable footing.

Other Features:

If you look at the console, you’ll notice that there are a lot of numbers to experiment with. You can get all the information you need to stay in control, from testing your own skill to keeping track of your scooter’s performance, including statistics on speed, distance, battery charge, and more.

Along with the console, you’ll discover a useful built-in alarm, immobiliser, and cable lock, ensuring that any curious passers-by will only look at your scooter from distance.

When your energy levels are low and you want to leave the job to the scooter the City’s cruise control system and optional seat will be a nice way to travel when your energy levels are low.

The City comes with a variety of configurable features, such as acceleration strength, riding mode, imperial or metric readings, and more allowing you to personalise your scooter. You can guarantee that each travel is handled in the most efficient manner for the sort of journey you’ll be making with tweaks like kick and go, quick acceleration, and cruise control.

The console is slim, so it doesn’t detract from the sleek look, and it’s easy to use while riding.
This is a tough scooter that’s meant to last, made of long-lasting aluminium with a high-quality finish.

Apollo electric scooters have a long history of being a fan favorite with exceptional customer service. As a result, it’s no surprise that the Apollo City comes with a two-year guarantee and customer support for your piece of mind.

This sort of guarantee is uncommon among scooter manufacturers, and Apollo’s warranty covers a wide range of issues, including defective parts caused by normal wear and tear over time.

They’ll even give you replacement components and instruct you on how to fix your scooter, or you can send it to one of their service centers.

However, it’s a good idea to examine the cover’s specifics carefully because different areas of the cover have different protection durations. Some sections aren’t covered for the whole two-year term, with some portions just receiving protection for a month or two.

In any event, it’s always a good idea to read the tiny print and brush up on how to maintain your scooter so you can get the most out of your money.

Safety:

The need for rapid, silent braking is critical for any urban scooter on congested city streets. The Apollo City meets expectations with a powerful braking system that includes a strong rear main brake with a resistant drum braking system and a strong front disc brake to ensure that rapid stops in crowded traffic are no issue.

The scooter’s triple redundant braking system provides a great braking distance of 3.08m, making it highly safe, robust, and easy to repair.

The Apollo City brakes with the smoothness and speed you need for a safe, joyful ride while guaranteeing no energy is wasted when the electronic regenerative brake is triggered to charge the battery and protect the brakes as you slow down.

When you push the brake lever on the handle, you may select the most appropriate amount of regeneration from a variety of options. With a maximum load capacity of 120kg and a spacious deck, you can carry your groceries on your back and still fit two feet on the deck.

In the handlebars, Apollo has opted to employ a screw mechanism rather than a spring loaded one since it is more robust. A solid choice for keeping the City’s handlebars in place, however it’s always a good idea to adjust these handlebar fittings on any scooter on sometimes because they may loosen with time.

Strong LED illumination in the rear and front make evening and early morning riding a breeze. In addition, there is under-deck illumination to guarantee that you are completely visible to other vehicles in all weather conditions. To improve your line of vision, you may even add a light to the handlebars or stem.

Reliability:

We’ve driven the Apollo City for 750 miles and haven’t had a single incident. The entire scooter has performed wonderfully and has been very dependable. There are no complaints about the City’s dependability in any forum postings or Facebook groups that we could find.

As far as we can tell, the Apollo City will live a long time and will continue to be dependable.

The way the scooter is treated will determine how dependable it is in the end.

Warranty:

The Apollo City boasts one of the greatest warranties we’ve ever seen, with a 2-year warranty covering all defects. We’ve seen the Apollo brand reviews, and they all scream the greatest customer service anyone has ever seen. The Apollo Brand’s guarantee and customer service are obvious winners.

Apollo City: Conclusion:

A wonderful, strong, solid, and dependable commuter scooter with a lengthy guarantee and outstanding customer service. It comes highly recommended.

Apollo City: Is it worth the money and is it worth buying?

Yes, the Apollo City, in our opinion, is worth purchasing.

You’ll be hard pressed to find a better commuting and city-dwelling scooter than the Apollo City. This is a top-of-the-line vehicle, built to meet all of the varying practical requirements of driving on congested city streets at various hours of the day and night.

The Apollo City’s engineering ensures it is suited for purpose, providing a smooth, pleasant journey devoid of rattles and stops. Large, air-filled pneumatic tyres, fast brakes, long battery life, and a durable suspension system deliver a premium ride that you’d expect to see at a considerably higher price.

While the rapid pace, stylish appearance, and configurable parts suggest a model with a larger price tag than the City, it’s unclear how Apollo managed to cram so many amazing features into such a light aluminium frame.

It’s a true triumph. It’s not easy to find a quick, durable, trustworthy scooter that you can fold down completely and transport with ease – it’s one of the Apollo City’s main appeals, and rightfully so.

If you choose the quick 4-hour charge, you’ll get everything, while the eight-hour charge is still a terrific deal. Even while the City isn’t an off-roader, it has enough power to tackle hills if you want to take it out for a weekend ride, and it can compete with many off-road electric scooters.

It’s difficult to find anything negative to say about the Apollo City, which has everything from fender protection to an optional seat attachment, excellent water resistance, under deck lights, and a slick, contemporary appearance.

In fact, we’re confident you’ll enjoy it since everyone does. Plus, on top of all of those great features, the Apollo City is available in the UK at a terrific price, accompanied by the trusted Apollo scooter name, ensuring you get one of the best commuter scooters on the market for a fabulous price – what’s not to like?

Apollo City vs Other Apollo Scooters:

If you’ve been considering other Apollo electric scooters and aren’t sure how the City stacks up, let’s look at the two closest models in the lineup, the Apollo Light and the Apollo Explore, to see how they compare.
On a considerably lighter frame and for a fraction of the price, the Apollo City provides a speed that is almost as quick as the Explore.

The Explore, on the other hand, will go you further for longer, yet for city commuting, the increased power and speed is overkill, so the City’s lengthy range will suffice.

When compared to the Apollo Light, the City provides a significantly faster ride and a lot wider range.
